With AI time blocking, the most useful starting point is seeing the time you actually have today. Cami can help you sort out tasks through conversation, then keep things moving with tasks, reminders and focus mode. Any plan it suggests still needs checking against your real meetings, deadlines and progress; do not assume it already knows your whole schedule.

This guide uses a morning work example to show how to turn “today I need to work on the proposal” into small blocks you can start and check. The times here are examples, not focus lengths that suit everyone.

Share your openings, then say what to deliver today

List the meetings, lunch and must-handle items already fixed, then describe today’s most important output. Do not stop at a task name; add where things stand and what it depends on: is the material complete, is a colleague’s review needed, when must it be delivered.

Example request
I have a meeting from 10:00 to 10:30, and the proposal outline is due by 11:30. The material is ready, but the structure is not decided. Please help me sort out today’s tasks first, leave openings before and after the meeting, and do not fill every minute.

This is a scheduling example. The tasks and times Cami organizes still need checking against your real schedule.

When work piles up, use the task priority example to confirm what must come first. Long-term projects can live in goals; what you owe today needs to land in concrete tasks.

Give every time block a checkable result

Turn “research the proposal” into “list three possible directions”; turn “write the outline” into “write the background, the goal and a three-part structure”. Checking whether a block produced something makes progress easier to judge than watching the timer.

  • Before a block starts: confirm you have the material you need and nothing is waiting on someone else’s confirmation.
  • Between blocks: leave room to switch and handle things that come up; do not treat every opening as work time.
  • Before submitting: set aside a separate block to check the deadline, the scope and how you will deliver.

You can organize requests like these through daily planning for work, then see the task creation guide for how to check a task.

Pick the task, then start one focus session

Open the focus tool in miniapps, decide which single step this session will move forward, then use the timer controls available in your app version. If you use 25 minutes, treat it as one attempt: finish the first section of the outline, for example, then decide whether to continue, adjust the scope or rest.

A timer gives you a clear start and end; it does not automatically produce deep work. With complex tasks, solve the missing material, unclear goals or waiting-for-feedback problems first. See the Cami focus mode guide for details, and the Pomodoro task planning example for pairing time blocks with tasks.

When interrupted, update the facts and check what follows

If an urgent item appears after the meeting, you can tell Cami: “I only wrote one section of the outline, the rest needs twenty minutes, and there is now a revision I have to handle first.” Then check whether each following task should continue, move or shrink. Do not read a new suggestion as having already rewritten all your tasks, reminders or other calendars.

When you finish, check which deliverables are actually done, then update the task status. Keep a clear next step for whatever is unfinished so the next start is easy. Summaries that appear in your journal or review should also be checked against real output.

FAQ: do you need to block your whole day?

Does every block need a reminder?

No. Set reminders only for start times or deadlines that truly need a cue, and check the repeat rule; for times that already have a meeting notice, first confirm you need another one.

Does Cami reschedule in real time based on my energy?

This guide does not assume that kind of automatic scheduling. You can describe changes in your state and progress yourself, then check whether the new plan holds up. A plan assists your judgment; the actual trade-offs are still yours to confirm.
